Valentine Treats

Oh what fun I have been having making and decorating Valentine Cookies.  I even  tried two new recipes, a Chocolate Chip and a Red Velvet. Both turned out great but I'm probably going to stick with my tried and true recipe.  Here are some pictures of my efforts.

Farwell Gail

Last Saturday I attended a Celebration of Life for a friend. I met Gail through our volunteer work together at the Terry Fox Foundation and over the years we had become friends. Gail enjoyed baking and last year she and I baked cookies together at my house. So it was with great pleasure that I was able to bake and decorate cookies for the reception that followed the service. I'm not sure why I chose to make butterflies and I certainly had no way of knowing  that Gail's husband would reference the butterflies in his stomach nor how the Minister would talk about getting them to fly in formation. It's as if someone was guiding us that day. Beautiful cookies for a beautiful friend.

Wedding Favors

A good friend of mine's son was getting married over the Christmas season this year.  As he is a proud US Marine, he would be in uniform for the ceremony.  My friend asked if I could make some wedding favors for the happy couple, and I thought it would be appropriate to incorporate his Marine uniform into the design. Here is the result.  I wish this couple many years of happiness and sweetness!
